Giants Win 31st of Last 40 Behind Bases-Clearing Double

The San Francisco Giants and the Texas Rangers are the two hottest teams in baseball and have the most wins in each league.

What year is it?!

Brandon Belt took Joe Panik's shift as the clutch San Francisco lefty, clearing the bases with a double in the seventh inning to propel the Giants to a 5-4 win over the lowly Philadelphia Phillies.

This win didn't come without reminders of the classic torture from 2010, as the bullpen made the ballgame interesting, to say the least.

The Fightin' Phils certainly had some fight in them during the late innings, scoring two runs in the eighth inning during the eighth inning, and loaded the bases in the ninth, yet with the help of a little Bochy Ball, the bullpen saved the game from themselves and secured the win.

Santiago Casilla induced a weak grounder off the bat of Tyler Goeddel and Ramiro Peña made a spectacular Duffy-like running throw to end the ballgame.

Lost in all the late-game dramatics was the excellent start by Jake Peavy, who has come into his own in the month of June.

His seven innings of two-run ball marked his third straight quality start, lowering his ERA in the month to 2.63, and his overall ERA to 5.22, which was at 6.34 when the month started.

The win was the Giants 31st in their last 40, which is the best 40-game stretch in franchise history since 1954, the same year the New York Giants won a championship over the Cleveland Indians.
